Service Minder provides a variety of grids (or lists) to view, and filter entities. These lists include
- Contacts
- Proposals
- Invoices
- Appointments
Most of these lists work with filters in the same way. Some have more built out capabilities. In this article I'll address Contacts as my example, but the methods apply to most/all.
FOR MUCH FASTER RESULTS IN THE GRID IN SERVICE MINDER, USE THE FILTERS. THIS DOWNLOADS THE DATA TO YOUR BROWSER AND MAKES SUBSEQUENT RESULT SETS RUN LOCALLY, AND MUCH FASTER.
EXAMPLE: IN A LARGE ORGANIZATION WITH 55,000 CONTACTS, TO FIND CONTACTS USING A SIMPLE FILTER AT THE BOTTOM TAKES 6 MINUTES, BUT IF YOU USE ONE OF THE FILTERS (BOXES IN THE NEXT SCREENSHOT), IT TAKES 3 SECONDS. SO, GENERATING A TAG FIRST, AND THEN USING THE FILTER BOXES IS A BEST-PRACTICE.
Before beginning any search, make sure the "Create Filter" is clear (at the bottom of page). You can hit "Clear" on the bottom right to make sure.
Sorting/filtering can be completed in three ways, top filter box, field names/key in blue bar across top, or the Filter at the bottom (most powerful and complicated; not recommended)
The Filter is a boolean search. After clicking Filter, you may select any of the fields, and then do a Contains or Does not Contain search. You may repeat with other filters. You may also click Add... to generate more searches of the same type. Reset is the start over button.
After you have your list created, you may perform actions on it using the buttons at the top right--download, or bulk edit.
Tip: Get the totals before beginning from Pulse-effective to help you avoid mistakes in logic.
Tip: if you get lost, hit reset and start anew.
(Update: in mid-2024, Serviceminder changed the logic of the grid filters to speed up result generation and also added search fields to the top cell below many of the grid columns)
