Right to Service a Zip Code
For Mosquito Squad in 2021, a territory is defined by a set of zip codes in a Franchise Agreement (FA). The FA is the final word on this, but in general, a territory has the exclusive right to represent Mosquito Squad in the zip codes that that territory owns. This includes service and most marketing.
A Mosquito Squad office may serve an area in a zip code that it does not own as long as another Mosquito Squad does not own that zip code. Should the number of customers become significant, there are conditional situations whereby that territory may add zip codes to their territory to protect.
An office may not service an address in a territory owned by another Mosquito Squad location. A mechanism exists to transfer zip codes from one territory to another formally, but this must be in writing through the franchisor.
The service address defines a customer's location and not the billing address.
Zip Codes and Service Minder
Zip codes are entered into an account by the brand. Should errors or changes need to be made, they must be completed at the brand level. Note that the "My Territory" map in geo zones must be rebuilt (deleted and added back) if changes are made to zip codes.
Types of Zip Codes
The U.S. Postal Service maintains four distinct types of ZIP Codes, known by their Classification Code:
<BLANK>: General. Used for general mail delivery.
P: P.O. Box. Used for mail deliveries to contract mailboxes only.
U: Unique. Used for large volumes of mail. Ex: Bank of America, Berkeley, IRS.
M: APO/FPO Military. Used for mail to service men and women stationed overseas.
