Contacts may Unsubscribe at several levels in ServiceMinder.
Email Campaigns
At the bottom of every email, there should be an {unsubscribe_url} link. If a customer clicks this, they are unsubscribed from all future email campaigns including bulk proposals. This does not affect transactional emails (invoices, receipts, confirmations, failed/successful payments, etc).
Once a client has been unsubscribed from marketing emails you should not undo that unless the customer explicitly requests it. To change a bulk (email campaign in SM) setting, from unsubscribe to subscribe or the other way, simply edit the contact and click on
To repeat, clicking this box is the same as the contact unsubscribing from our email campaigns, but not transactional emails.
The system manages the unsubscribes per Can Spam Act Compliance guidelines: the system manages Unsubscribes per https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business
Proposal Unsubscribes
If from within an individual proposal (not the email that sends the proposal, but the proposal itself), if a contact unsubscribes they will receive no further automated reminders about that proposal. Here is a screen shot of what the contact will see inside the proposal to opt out of future reminders:
Text Unsubscribes
To unsubscribe from automated text messages sent to a mobile phone number, just respond to the text with one of the following words FROM THAT PHONE:
- STOP
- UNSUBSCRIBE
- END
- QUIT
- CANCEL
That phone may also respond START to continue to get texts.
Each line in Service Minder must register:
https://serviceminder.io/support/index/204 Without this registration you may not use the texting functions.
Transactional Emails
All single emails to a specific contact are exempt from the unsubscribe restrictions. The assumption is that the contact requested information, and singularly you are responding to that request. This includes individual emails, invoices, notifications, and such. Contacts that are scheduled to receive Automated Emails for specific work, e.g., Appointment Reminders will continue to receive these regardless of their “unsubscribe” status. This is a business function.
Pro Tip: You may always move an email (and phone) from within the Contact to the notes to keep them from being used at all.
