Backlog in SM

Backlog in the left menu represents the dollars in scheduled appointments not completed, and the number of scheduled appointments.

In Mosquito Squad, we generally create invoices that carry the money. Appointments are created with no revenue attached to them. Thus, there is nothing to invoice when the Appointment is completed. In this model, the Backlog dollar amount in the left column should remain at zero.

If you see a dollar value in your backlog, that is an item you need to investigate, because it likely means you have an invoice with no installment plan attached to it (the customer hasn't told you how they plan to pay for the service).

Exception: Recurring Business Model

Some Mosquito Squad locations use the recurring model, whereby one or more appointments are created with the dollars attached. If that is the case, it is these dollars that display in the Backlog field in the menu. When these appointments are completed, the dollars attached to an appointment are invoiced and they drop off the backlog number and move to sales. So in the recurring model, for a given season the sales plus the backlog represent the booked business.

Then number of Backlog is the appointments created but not completed for the calendar year.
